I am glad to join the arts exhibitions with my colleagues in M+ museum to celebrate the 50th school anniversary during graduation show.
In this graduation arts exhibition, I showed a student works who completed film photo club activities in my photography certificate course (QF Lev.2) in College. Mr. T is a SEN student, 15 years old, and a typical hidden youth. He didn't take enough of the course, about 70%, but the course provided him a chance to borrow film camera take a photowalk in his spare time. Two months later, I received his film and we developed it together. What surprised me that he able to apply what he learned from the course, with light and geometric composition to create a beautiful sense of space. He told me that he had never tried to do this before. In the community where he lives, photography gives him an opportunity to get in touch with society.
Secondly I show my painting works call "學生十六相", The works are based on the special school students who once taught. The students do not have intellectual disabilities, but most of them have emotional and behavioral disorders, and they will reject even small tasks because of their emotions and attitudes. I am not emphasizing their mischievous nature and reproducing their mischievous behavior. I want to show how they demonstrate "freedom" in a predicament (living environment under compulsory education) vitality.
